Smyth County Board of Supervisors forwards two proposals to ordinance committee, approves routine resolutions and appointments

On Oct. 9 the Smyth County Board of Supervisors forwarded two proposed ordinance items to its ordinance committee and approved multiple routine measures, including acceptance of the September monthly financial status report and payment of invoices.

The board forwarded a proposal from Commonwealth’s Attorney Bucky Blevins to create an online registry of animal abuse offenders to the ordinance committee for further consideration. County Clerk John Graham prompted a second referral, asking the board to allow juror expense pay to be donated; the board forwarded that item as well. Both items were described to the board as referrals to the ordinance committee for drafting and review.

The board accepted the county’s September monthly financial status report and authorized payment of invoices, according to the meeting recap.
