Examples included a public-works crew (Brendan Rodgers, Renee Sanchez and Corey Barnett) that hand-chiseled and patched a sidewalk tripping hazard; a recent hire in the Electrical Division (Mr. Palmer) who assisted residents and received citizen praise; and Christine Smith and Garrett Guthrie for coordinating job-shadowing opportunities with Compass Academy students.
The mayor read an extended citizen letter praising firefighters identified by first names as Steve, Don and Ryan. The letter said the resident called the department for a persistent alarm, firefighters delivered a temporary smoke/carbon-monoxide alarm, returned the next day to install a replacement and even unwrapped a flag on the resident—s porch so it could fly properly. The resident characterized the crew—s actions as —above and beyond— and concluded with thanks and prayers.
Mayor Hall also reminded attendees about the city—s Veterans Day ceremony (Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m.) and an intergovernmental community resource event scheduled for the coming Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
