County counsel and staff described the rescission as a procedural reset rather than an approval of a new standard. A staff handout accompanying the request explained that a rehearing or rescission “does not undo the zoning decision that was made. It simply waives the 6‑month waiting period… that he has to wait before he can reapply for this approval.” The board determined rescinding the earlier approval would clear the slate and permit staff to rework language and ensure timely public advertising.
Staff also noted that the county has a moratorium on data‑center applications; that moratorium remains in effect while the county revisits zoning and other protections. The board approved the rescission by voice vote.
