Richard Myers, the consultant assisting Wilsonville on its city manager recruitment, presented a draft recruitment profile and recommended timeline during the Nov. 3 work session, saying the document draws on interviews with the full council, 12 community members and several city reports. Myers said staff provided photos and background materials and that links in the draft would point to a formal job description and other resources.
Council members said they want to move the process quickly. Council President Carolyn Berry and Councilors Anne Chevlin and Adam Cunningham urged staff to circulate an updated draft and the list of community members interviewed, and to schedule any short special meeting as soon as possible to approve the final profile and launch the recruitment. Myers recommended a posting and first‑review window in mid‑December, a work session/executive session to review semifinalists in late January and final interviews the week of Jan. 25, with an appointment possible in early February, depending on timing.
The profile incorporates material from the 2025 annual reports, council goals and other local documents; Myers said staff had already identified edits (outdated web content, direct‑report listings) that would be corrected before final adoption. He also recommended keeping some cultural items out of the published profile so interviewers could test candidates’ preparation in person.
Councilors asked for a list of community members who were interviewed so the council could confirm no key stakeholders were omitted. Myers agreed to circulate the revised draft and the outreach list to staff the next day and to collect any corrections from council by the following Thursday. If no further edits were received, staff planned to schedule a short meeting early the following week for formal adoption so the recruitment could launch quickly.
The work session discussion concluded with agreement that the council will determine the makeup of interview panels and that staff and the consultant will prepare a standard set of screening and interview questions with council input.
