Fuel sales mixed; airport preparing Aviation Day for local students

Airport-affiliated fuel operator Summit reported a 12% increase in jet fuel sales from August to September, selling 52,696 gallons of jet fuel, while Avgas sales were down about 4% from August at 9,174 gallons.
Summit representatives said they plan to use Hangar 11 for an Aviation Day intended for schoolchildren. Staff are coordinating with the local school district and the Guard to confirm timing and security approvals; the date was not finalized because the Guard must confirm whether it can support the requested date.
Airport staff said they will invite the tower staff, mechanics and local businesses to bring equipment to the hangar so students can see aircraft, engines and maintenance demonstrations. The airport is coordinating with local schools to stage buses and move students in waves; staff estimated they could host as many as 300–400 children and said the event would be staged in groups between about 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Summit said some local businesses may bring aircraft for static displays and that organizers hope the event will spark interest in aviation careers. The commission did not take any formal action on the event during the meeting.
