A representative of First Steps Recovery addressed the Board of Supervisors during public presentations on Nov. 4 about a facility currently under a red-tag permitting status. The speaker said permitting issues had largely been addressed with county staff and that the operator had requested a detailed list of the items that justify a red tag — items they understand to require action only where there is an imminent danger to occupant safety.
“We are an open book,” the representative said and offered photographs and access to the facility to show current conditions. The speaker said the facility staff would promptly address any items identified by county code or counsel once provided in writing.
During the board exchange Supervisor Magsig said the information being presented publicly conflicted with what county counsel and staff have communicated privately, and asked that county counsel and staff reconcile the differences. No closed-session report or formal action was recorded on the matter at the time the board adjourned to closed session.
