The Envision Needham Center project working group set a public engagement timeline Nov. 3: the project survey will open Jan. 12, 2026, and a hybrid in‑person/Zoom public information session is tentatively scheduled for the evening of Jan. 15.
Staff recommended a broad outreach campaign including a mailed postcard to every Needham household, newsletter and social‑media notices, targeted outreach to senior centers and affinity groups, and outreach packages for downtown businesses to distribute to nonresident customers. Committee members urged a minimum two‑week lead time for postcards to reach mailboxes and suggested scheduling the in‑person session either the week before or after Martin Luther King Day to avoid holiday conflicts.
Staff said the survey would be open for approximately three weeks (Jan. 12–30) with the public session near the start of that window so attendees could take the survey afterward; staff also agreed to provide an email address for additional written comments and to ensure committee‑received emails are noted in the project record. The committee asked staff to circulate the draft survey questions at the next meeting for review and to include an FAQ on the project website.
Staff said survey results will be synthesized within a few weeks after the survey closes and packaged for committee review; the committee anticipates forwarding a recommendation and materials to the Select Board in the following one to two months.
