Needham Design Review Board finalizes comments on Chabad Center memo; member recuses

At its Nov. 3 meeting the Needham Design Review Board reviewed additional comments to a memo on the Chabad Center for the Planning Board. Member Felix recused himself because of an affiliation; the board agreed staff would remove any personal references before sending its consolidated comments.
The Needham Design Review Board on Nov. 3 discussed and agreed to forward supplemental comments on the Chabad Center to the Planning Board after one member recused himself.
Board Chair Mark Losing said the board had prepared a memo with landscaping and other notes and that Susan had provided additional comments now included in the meeting package. Board member Felix stated on the record that, “due to my affiliation with Chabad, I have to recuse myself from this,” and did not participate in further discussion of the item.
Losing and administrative support staff Alisa Litchman said they would remove any personal references that had been included in Susan’s draft before sending the consolidated memo to the Planning Board. The board took no formal vote on the memo during the public meeting; the chair indicated the edited memo would be attached to the report the board files with the Planning Board.
The discussion was procedural and intended only to prepare the board’s advisory comments for the Planning Board’s site plan review process.
