City staff presented a proposed ordinance to restrict through‑traffic by heavy trucks in the College Station neighborhood. The measure is intended to reduce cut‑through heavy truck traffic and improve neighborhood safety.
Staff said the proposal would prohibit class‑9 and larger through‑trucks on designated streets while allowing exceptions for emergency vehicles, farm tractors, local deliveries and special hauling permits. A staff representative said the city modeled the text on county rules and drafted an ordinance that clarifies the vehicle classes and allowable exceptions.
Director Joan Adcock (board director) and other members said the change responds to longtime resident concerns. Director Miller said the ordinance would not affect smaller delivery services that stop curbside to make package deliveries.
Ending: Staff indicated the ordinance will be brought forward with formal materials; board members asked for more public information to ensure residents understand the scope and that routine local deliveries will not be impacted.
