Lincoln County approves special-use permit for powder-coating operation on Burnwood Trail

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners voted to approve Special Use Permit 526, authorizing a powder-coating operation in an existing industrial building at 4252 Burnwood Trail.

Planning staff introduced SUP 526, saying the request involves a 0.42-acre parcel in an area the Lincoln County Land Use Plan designates as an industrial center and that the operation falls under coating, engraving and heat-treating uses that require an SUP. Staff said no site changes were anticipated and that the applicant would add the use to the existing building.

Applicant Justin Adams told the board he had consulted with the fire marshal to meet applicable requirements. When asked about potential chemical runoff, Adams said he does not use chemicals for blasting and that he had worked with the fire marshal to ensure compliance. Adams also confirmed he prepared and wished to incorporate the proposed findings of fact submitted with the application into the record.

Commissioner Patton moved to approve the applicant’s proposed findings of fact; the motion carried by voice vote. Commissioner Carpenter then moved to approve SUP 526; that motion carried by voice vote and the permit was approved.

The board did not record any site-plan changes or additional permit conditions on the record. The file packet includes staff’s statement of consistency and reasonableness and the applicant’s proposed findings of fact (as incorporated into testimony).
