The Owasso City Council authorized payment of $95,000 to the Hojela Family Revocable Trust to acquire 5,600 square feet of right of way and compensate for damages needed for the East 90th Street North roadway improvement project between North 130th East Avenue and North 140th East Avenue.
Roger Stevens told the council the offer breaks down to $5 per square foot for 5,600 square feet (total $28,000) plus $67,000 for damages arising from required removals and relocations — the largest costs being removal and reconstruction of masonry fence pillars, driveway approaches, removal/replacement of more than 20 mature trees and associated landscaping.
Stevens said project funding is available from the capital improvements fund. Council members asked whether the city simply pays compensation or performs replanting or fence reconstruction; Stevens confirmed the city pays the monetary compensation and does not reconstruct property features as part of the acquisition payment. A motion to approve payment and execute acquisition documents passed on recorded roll call.
