Council approves $52,567 replacement police vehicle after crash

The Owasso City Council approved authorization to purchase a 2025 Ford F-150 from Bob Moore Ford at the State of Oklahoma contract price of $52,567 to replace a patrol vehicle that was totaled in a collision.
Jason Woodard, presenting the item, said the wrecked 2022 F-150 had relatively few miles because of lead time to outfit vehicles, and staff intends to salvage usable equipment from the damaged unit. Because the cost matched the state contract price (SW035) the city may procure the vehicle without a separate competitive bid. Funding will come initially from the city’s general liability self-insurance fund pending an insurance payout; staff said settlement negotiations were ongoing.
Councilors asked if an insurance settlement was pending; staff replied the city was pursuing a payout and will return proceeds to the self-insurance fund when payment is received. A motion to approve purchase and payment passed on recorded roll call.
