LANSING — The Michigan House on Nov. 4 passed House Bill 4840, a statutory amendment to the Revised Judicature Act of 1961. Representative Lightner introduced the bill and the chamber advanced it to third reading with no amendments. A recorded vote on final passage resulted in 99 ayes and 1 nay. The majority floor leader then moved for immediate effect, and that motion was ordered.
