District reports early attendance gains after first-quarter interventions

Maine Township High School District 207 administrators reported measurable attendance gains through the October reporting period after implementing building-level incentives and tiered interventions.

Katie, an attendance staff member presenting the report, said the district's target is for students to meet a 95% attendance expectation and that chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of school days, whether excused or unexcused. She said last year the district's chronic absenteeism rate was 33% and that the current quarter shows improvement over the same period last year.
