Cochise County supervisors approve $590 in community grants, adopt Resolution 2532 to reinstate separate bank credit lines

The Cochise County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 4 approved two community enhancement expenditures totaling $590 and adopted Resolution 2532 authorizing separate lines of credit with Wells Fargo Bank National Association for political subdivisions the county treasurer serves. The recorded votes on the agenda items were 2-0, with Supervisor Crosby absent due to a recent surgery.
The board approved a $90 expenditure for the Douglas Rotary Dictionary Project to buy dictionaries for third-graders in public, private and charter schools. Supervisor Gomez said the dictionaries were distributed the previous day and that “for many of these kids, it's the only book that they own,” during brief discussion.
The board also approved a $500 expenditure for a District 2 Thanksgiving 5K run/walk. Supervisor Gomez said money raised by the event will go to House of Hope, a local women’s abuse shelter.
In a separate item the board voted to adopt Resolution 2532, authorizing the Cochise County treasurer to execute a business loan agreement with Wells Fargo Bank National Association that provides for separate lines of credit for each political subdivision for which the county treasurer acts as treasurer. Cochise County Treasurer Traywick described the change as a return to normal operations with the county’s new servicing bank and said separate lines make it easier to track borrowing and interest by individual entities. "This is basically returning to normal now that we have a new servicing bank," Traywick said.
All recorded votes on the motions were approved by a 2-0 voice vote; Supervisor Crosby was not recorded as voting. No motions failed or were tabled in the items listed on the agenda.
The board announced a public meeting on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Bisbee to hear public comment on adding or deleting county road maintenance for specific roads. The next official meeting of the board will be a Nov. 13 work session in the hearing room for an agenda preview. The board adjourned following the announcements.
