Fire Chief McComb told the Public Safety Committee on Nov. 3 that the fire department has run 4,746 calls so far this year and that Fire Prevention Month included 42 events reaching more than 500 students. “It's a busy month,” McComb said, adding that the department enjoyed the outreach and posted photos of events.
Police Chief Miller reported that Axon in-car camera systems have been installed across the department’s vehicles and are now operational. Miller also described recent community outreach: an Explorers team collected and delivered dog food to area rescue groups, trunk-or-treat events drew high demand, and the department plans holiday-season programs including candy-cane distributions and another “coffee with a cop” at a local business. “We’ve got all the cameras installed in the vehicles now,” Miller said.
Committee members asked no follow-up policy questions during the report period. The committee adjourned after brief administrative items and a reminder about an upcoming polar-plunge fundraiser.
