The City of Rome Planning Board unanimously approved an environmental determination and the subdivision of a lakeside parcel into two lots that front Teesch Point Road and Golf Course Road.
An applicant described splitting "1 large lot that fronts the lake" and said the proposal cuts off two lake‑fronting lots and that one parcel contains wetlands. Planning staff confirmed the proposed parcel dimensions meet zoning minimums but cautioned that wetlands present on one parcel could affect future development. "The wetlands are present on 1 of the project parcels. This doesn't impact the ability of the parcels to be subdivided... the applicant should be aware that it may impact the possibility of future development of the land," a staff member said, and the department recommended issuing an uncoordinated SEQRA negative declaration and approving the subdivision plat as presented.
The board moved to issue the negative declaration and to approve the subdivision; both motions carried unanimously. The board closed the item and encouraged the applicant to proceed through the permits process.
