Springfield District 186 focus groups urge visible, fiscally experienced superintendent; board to extend posting to Dec. 5

Dr. Ayea, the consultant who led 18 focus groups for the Springfield Public Schools District 186 superintendent search, told the Board of Education that 166 people participated over two days and that the groups consistently prioritized a leader with K–12 experience, financial and operational expertise, and a commitment to equity and inclusion. The focus groups — held Oct. 22–23 and organized by the search committee chaired by Buffy Leowolf — recommended several specific adjustments to the district's vacancy materials. Leowolf and staff proposed adding language emphasizing integrity, visibility, transparent communication and a longer-term commitment to the Springfield community.
