Lawton Public Schools moves forward with bleachers and facility upgrades at high schools

Superintendent Heim said the district has a purchase-order approval for new bleachers and is preparing construction at multiple high-school sites. "The purchase order board approved to put the bleachers on the East Side at Lawton High School since August. And we've just been waiting. We got the electric line buried. It's the fiber. 1 fiber buried. We got 1 to go. So fingers crossed that gets done this week, and that construction should start this week," Heim said.

Heim said the works are intended to improve spectator seating and support concessions, locker rooms and bathrooms, noting benefits for junior high and JV athletics and soccer. He cautioned that construction may not finish this calendar year but said next year should see the installation completed.
