Commissioners approve JDAI Family Recovery Court MOUs to fund juvenile programming

On Nov. 3 the Boone County Board of Commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding package that will govern distribution of JDAI (Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative) grant funds to subgrantee organizations delivering Family Recovery Court programming.
Laurie Thompson, the county’s JDAI coordinator, told commissioners that state-funded JDAI grants are received by the county and distributed to local grantees that provide programming designed to keep juveniles out of detention. She said most of the subgrantees are organizations the county has worked with before and that one of the agreements is structured as a contract because it involves a specific individual and organization.
Commissioners moved and approved the MOU and associated documents by voice vote. Thompson said the documents had already been signed in September by herself and the subgrantees and that one of the MOUs may be new while others are continuations of previous partnerships.
The action enables county staff to execute funding agreements with local providers to deliver juvenile programming under the Family Recovery Court and related JDAI-funded activities.
