Franklin Public Library board adopts mayor—s recommended 2026 budgets for funds 15 and 16

The Franklin Public Library Board of Trustees adopted the mayor—s recommended 2026 budgets for Fund 15 and Fund 16 at its Oct. 27 meeting.

Board President Maria M. moved to adopt the 2026 library budget for Fund 15 with $1,000,593,494 in revenues, $1,000,497,446 in operating expenditures and $124,637 in capital expenditures; a second was called and the motion carried with vocal assent.

The board then adopted the 2026 library budget for Fund 16, which lists $61,290 in revenues, $44,250 in operating expenditures and $17,040 in capital expenditures. Trustees voiced no objections during the roll call votes.

The board heard a finance presentation before the votes. Treasurer Alan Alexandrovich reported that, through September, Fund 15 revenue stood at 97.34% of the year—s budget while expenditures were 65.9% of budget; Fund 16 revenue was 82.25% and expenditures were 56.34%. Alexandrovich said some apparent revenue shortfalls did not account for reciprocal borrowing and that, overall, revenues and spending were tracking better than earlier presented.

Trustees discussed that levy-driven revenue growth will depend on future net new construction in the city. Jason Craig, representing the city council, said the council—s finance committee and a committee of the whole will continue reviewing department requests as the municipal budget process proceeds toward council adoption.

The board—s adoption is the library—s endorsement of the mayor—s recommended numbers; the city council retains final approval authority for the municipal budget.
