Assistant Superintendent Jessica Palmarish said the plan centers on intensive curriculum and instruction strategies, weekly instructional walkthroughs for teacher feedback, targeted small-group instruction, after-school tutorials and interventions during the Learning Tree program, and bilingual support (CBLI) for English learners. The plan includes interim progress checks, monthly superintendent reviews, and a public community meeting schedule (midyear and end-of-year) so families can view data and progress.
Performance targets were cited as part of the plan: district staff referenced TEA's expectation for closing gaps (for example, a target of about 36% at meets/masters for reading and 31% for math as district goals tied to closing domain gaps). Staff also said they would pursue high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) adoptions for math (implementation 2026-27) and reading (planning for 2027-28), seek additional Chromebooks to enable at-home interventions, and assign additional staffing supports, including an additional administrator and stipends for teachers as needed.
Board members asked about attendance (staff reported Mead at approximately 93% attendance) and requested monthly updates on attendance, discipline, teacher attendance and academic indicators. Region 20 and TEA representatives reportedly completed diagnostic visits and will continue to work with district coaches.
