District staff preview ObserveTab system for teacher evaluation and professional growth

District staff demonstrated ObserveTab at the Oct. 8 work session as the district’s chosen platform for teacher observations, professional-growth plans and summative/formative evaluation cycles.
Holly, a district presenter identified as staff, said ObserveTab “provides continuity and consistency in a format that is in line with the Utah effective teaching standards” and allows administrators to send real-time observation feedback to teachers via the platform. She said the district has customized forms to align with local goals and that ObserveTab updates when state standards change, reducing the need for manual revisions.
Presenters highlighted features administrators favored: configurable observation forms, embedded self-assessments and growth-plan templates for different certifications (educators, counselors, instructional coaches, SLPs), and tools for targeted diagnostics such as time-on-task data collection. Holly said the system supports both summative cycles (three checkpoints) and shorter formative cycles and that it retains timestamps and submission records to make the process auditable.
Board members asked whether ObserveTab will cover non-teacher staff evaluations (administrators, educational support professionals). Staff said the platform includes templates for counselors, SLPs and that district-level templates for directors and support staff can be configured and rolled out.
Staff said they will continue rollout steps with administrators and work with schools to ensure teachers receive timely feedback.
No board vote was taken; the demonstration was a presentation and discussion of implementation details and timelines.
