Three candidates introduce school-board slate, emphasize collaboration and teacher support

At the Sept. 16 Township Committee meeting three candidates for the Cranford Board of Education introduced themselves as a joint slate and outlined priorities for the Nov. 4 election.
Lauren Moyo, accompanied by Joseph Braxton and Craig Coughlin Jr., described the trio as parents and long-time residents running under the slogan "Better Collaborative Education." Moyo said the slate supports the school referendum, is concerned about tax impacts and wants to examine teacher compensation trends; she said the candidates favor expanding emotional, academic and social supports and improving consistency of communication and program-sharing across the district’s eight schools.
The candidates asked to meet with township leaders and residents as they continue outreach; they said full bios would be posted on their campaign pages and that they plan to emphasize collaboration among residents, administrators and educators.
