The Green Bay Finance Committee approved a $123,958.90 purchase of ballistic gear for the Fire Department to be funded through the EMS assistance program (state funding). Staff said previous years’ assistance program funding totals exceeded $400,000 and this purchase was procured through Nelson Tactical under the State of Wisconsin cooperative purchasing agreement.
Parks or Fire staff explained the gear will be issued by riding position and kept on apparatus so whoever is on a rig that day can access it; staffs noted that sets are not individually assigned to personnel and will be used for active scenarios rather than worn continuously. Committee members thanked staff for securing grant funding and supporting local procurement where possible.
The committee moved, seconded and voted unanimously to approve the purchase.
