Sumner County Schools mourn SRO Officer Jerry Sowers; Gallatin to dismiss early for funeral

Director Dr. Linford described Sowers as influential in students' lives and said multiple law enforcement agencies and community members remarked on his impact. The director announced the funeral will be Saturday at noon at Gallatin High School and that Gallatin schools will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. on that day to allow setup and transportation adjustments.
Board members offered condolences and emphasized the broader positive role SROs play in schools as mentors and daily points of contact for students. The district asked staff and community to keep the family and school community in their thoughts.
