Plan commission recommends underground distribution easement to We Energies at Kiwanis Park

The plan commission reviewed a request from We Energies for a 10‑foot underground distribution easement across a portion of Kiwanis Park adjacent to Menomonee Avenue. Amy Bennett displayed a map showing the proposed underground alignment and noted the easement would formalize and protect conduits and distribution equipment that were temporarily placed and were damaged during recent road construction.

Commissioners asked clarifying questions about the location and purpose; staff indicated the work would include conduit and casing replacement and that We Energies had proposed underground distribution rather than new overhead lines. No members of the public spoke against the request.

A motion to recommend Village Board approval of the underground distribution easement passed unanimously.
