Council proclaims November 2025 Veterans and Military Families Month; adopts 2026 meeting calendar

The San Juan County Council adopted, during its Nov. 3 regular meeting, a proclamation designating November 2025 as Veterans and Military Families Month. Communications coordinator Erin Andrews read the proclamation and described county resources, including an estimated 2,500 veterans who reside in the county, the veterans advisory board and a veterans assistance fund that provides emergency financial help to eligible veterans and immediate family members. Sheriff Eric Peter accepted the proclamation on the county’s behalf.

Later in the meeting council discussed and approved a draft 2026 meeting calendar with small scheduling adjustments and placeholders for additional November and December meetings; staff will circulate the adopted calendar and publish any subsequent changes as needed. The calendar motion passed by voice vote; no recorded roll‑call tally was entered into the minutes beyond three affirmative voices on the motion.
