YUBA CITY — The City Council unanimously authorized the finance department to initiate an open recruitment for a full‑time permanent customer service representative I/II to fill an existing vacancy.
Samantha Bridal, representing the finance department, told the council the position is essential to maintain department operations and uninterrupted customer service. "This position is essential to maintaining the finance department operations to ensure uninterrupted... customer service and allow myself, the customer service manager, to focus on team leadership and process improvement," Bridal said.
City Manager Robert Bindorff added context about funding and recent customer-service examples. He said the position's general‑fund impact is "very small," noting most of the salary and benefits are supported by non‑general funds, including utilities, water and wastewater. He also described two recent instances where customer service staff assisted constituents beyond normal duties: one business license transaction that went smoothly and another case where staff contacted a nonprofit to help an elderly resident on a payment plan.
A council member moved to authorize the recruitment, the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. No public speakers addressed the item.
City staff will proceed with the recruitment process; the council did not specify additional funding beyond existing budget sources.
