Appointments: The council moved and seconded appointments for two officers recommended by police leadership. The council approved the appointment of Tyler Frederick to full-time police officer status effective Nov. 4, 2025; the motion was seconded and the council voted in the affirmative. The council subsequently moved, seconded and approved the appointment of Cameron Hewitt to full-time police officer status effective Nov. 4, 2025.
Emergency management coordinator: The public-safety committee recommended Matthew Swartzfager as the borough’s emergency-management coordinator. Council authorized the borough manager to forward the committee’s recommendation to Governor Shapiro’s office for formal appointment; the motion passed. Swartzfager addressed the council and said he planned to update and rebuild the borough’s emergency-management plan and appoint deputies to improve redundancy.
Votes: The police appointments were approved by voice vote; the emergency-management recommendation was approved by voice vote after a motion and second.
