Erlanger holds first reading to remove garage requirement in RMF zone

On first reading the council heard an amendment to the Erlanger zoning ordinance that would remove the requirement that new dwelling units in the RMF (residential multifamily) zone include an attached or detached garage. City staff and the Kenton County Planning Commission recommended the change as consistent with the comprehensive plan.
City attorney Jack presented an ordinance on first reading that would amend the Erlanger zoning ordinance to remove the requirement that all new dwelling units in the RMF (residential multifamily) zone include at least one attached or detached garage.
Jack told council the change was recommended by planning and development staff and had been heard by the Kenton County Planning Commission at a public hearing on Oct. 2, which recommended the amendment. The city clerk noted the ordinance as a first reading; no final vote or adoption occurred at the Nov. 4 meeting.
Council recorded the first reading for the record; staff attachment A (the draft zoning table change) was included in the packet. The matter will return for further readings as required by ordinance procedures before any zoning text amendment takes effect.
