Technology committee briefs board on cybersecurity, phone-system and device refresh progress

The technology committee reviewed ongoing efforts to enhance the district’s cybersecurity posture and described completion of phone-system replacements funded by the 2022 bond. Committee members said network-equipment refreshes are underway and that E-rate notifications will help offset costs; the presentation cited E-rate support in the “just over half a million dollars” range as part of the funding mix.
The district is also assessing student device needs and formed a subcommittee to study class-set models versus a full 1:1 deployment. Technology leaders reported an initiative to upgrade Windows 10 devices and to assess Windows 11 readiness; the committee scheduled its next meeting for Nov. 4.
Trustees emphasized the importance of cybersecurity and device planning as the district balances bond projects, E-rate funding and classroom instructional needs.
