Trustees highlight Systems of Care work and districtwide bully-prevention assemblies

Trustees reported on the district’s Systems of Care work and on recent bully-prevention assemblies that the superintendent said reached thousands of students.
“System of care in the Boerne ISD is deliver a comprehensive, coordinated, and collaborative service to students and their families,” trustee Dallas Pipes said in a report on the committee’s Sept. 4 meeting, which focused on preventing bullying by teaching compassion and developing practical campus responses.
Dr. Kraft told the board the district partnered with David’s Legacy Foundation this fall to present bullying- and cyberbullying-prevention assemblies. “Just within the start of the school year, we had about 5,000 students, that's our middle school and our high school students, participate in a bully prevention assembly presented by the David's Legacy Foundation,” he said, and praised counselors and partners for supporting a positive school environment.
Trustees discussed expanding student participation in systems-of-care work, noted that the committee welcomes more student attendance and scheduled the next Systems of Care meeting for Nov. 6. The board did not take formal action at the Sept. 15 meeting; the item was a committee update and Superintendent’s report.
