Board approves senior services special revenue appropriation for trips and programs

Caswell County officials presented a budget amendment Nov. 3 to appropriate special‑revenue balances held for senior services. Finance staff said the senior program collects participant trip fees and donations that must be appropriated before those funds can be spent; the amendment authorizes the department to use those balances and to process one remaining trip through county books.
Janine Everidge, director of Caswell Senior Services, was present to answer program questions. Staff noted that going forward participants will pay travel agencies directly for trips, which will reduce the cash flow handled through county accounts and simplify administration. The board approved the amendment by voice vote after a motion by Commissioner Ingram and a second from Commissioner Rose.
