Shenendehowa administrators lay out budget calendar; board urged to include new appointee early

District staff presented the Shenendehowa Central School District’s budget development calendar and urged board members to be involved early in the process.

Administrators said enrollment projections from the Capital District Regional Planning Committee (CDRPC) will be presented at the next board meeting and stressed those projections drive staffing and program decisions. Building leaders will receive budget request (B) forms in December; academic administrators will review staffing and curriculum requests in January. The budget team plans multiple board presentations during March, a draft budget by March 24 and adoption steps in April, with the district’s budget vote scheduled on May 19 in the calendar presented.

Staff noted statutory deadlines (tax levy limit calculation to the state controller, legal publication requirements, and deadline dates for absentee ballots and candidate nomination paperwork) and the production timeline for the budget newsletter and mailings. District leaders emphasized that any newly appointed board member should be included early so they have the context for budget deliberations and voting.
