Tucci Valley Golf & Rec completes irrigation project; thanks county for reimbursement support

Representatives of Tucci Valley Golf & Rec updated the Columbia County Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 6 about the completion of a multi-year irrigation project at the golf course. The project began with planning in 2019 and, according to the presenter, raised more than $800,000 in grants and volunteer contributions to cover multiple phases of work.
The board heard that the county oversaw a portion of the project’s final phase and was responsible for reimbursement obligations to the Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO). Presenters said the county’s share was roughly $100,000 after other grants and match contributions; the initial county assumption for one final phase was listed as $143,000 in the project budget but final reconciliations put the county’s outlay at a lower figure.
Tucci Valley representatives thanked county staff and provided a $3,500 check (passed through Blue Mountain Community Foundation fiscal sponsorship) as part of the match for RCO reimbursement. The golf board said course conditions have improved, greens speeds and playability are better, and they expect increased revenue next season; they also said they are working with county staff on a potential transition to county-run operations or a management contract and plan to market the course more aggressively in 2026.
County staff and the golf board discussed maintenance expectations for the irrigation system, which staff described as low for routine parts and seasonal blowouts. The county indicated that final RCO reimbursement paperwork had been submitted and that the county would process the reimbursement once the state grant closed out.
No formal action was taken other than acceptance of the update and acknowledgement of the donor check; the commission thanked the golf board for its fundraising and work on the project.
