Greene County approves $265,000 ambulance purchase to refresh fleet

Greene County commissioners unanimously approved purchase of a turnkey ambulance quoted at $265,000 to replace the county’s oldest unit.
Staff told commissioners a vendor contacted the county offering the vehicle at a price consistent with prior market pricing and that the county was not guaranteed pricing would remain at that level. The ambulance would replace a 2017 model in the fleet. The emergency management director said another ambulance is on order for delivery in 2026 and that commissioners maintain an eight-year vehicle replacement plan; the director has urged a six-year plan for ambulances, but the county currently follows the eight-year schedule.
A motion to approve the purchase was moved, seconded and passed by voice vote. Commissioners did not detail specific financing in the meeting; staff said they expected financing or available funds could be arranged to make the purchase work within capital purchasing processes.
The county will add the new unit to its fleet and retire the oldest ambulance once the replacement is placed in service.
