Commissioners approve Wallace Design Group contract for special inspections at Port of Inola

Rogers County commissioners on Oct. 16 approved a contract with Wallace Design Group to provide special inspection services for large-scale construction at the Port of Inola.
Missy, a representative of the inspection firm, told commissioners the firm's inspectors would perform structural and specialty inspections required for projects of this size and that the services are consistent with Section 110 of the International Building Code, which treats these services as special inspection. Because the county has an interlocal agreement with the Port of Inola and the town of Inola, Wallace Design Group will perform inspections at the port under contract with Rogers County.
Missy said the contractor/owner will pay Wallace Design Group; the county will accept the funds into a fee account and then pay on-site inspectors from those fees. She described daily inspection printouts, deviation logs and other documentation the firm would supply to the county. Commissioners asked whether the contract would be limited to the port; Missy said the contract is written to cover the Port of Inola now, and the county could expand services later if desired.
A motion to approve the contract passed by voice vote. Commissioners did not specify a contract number or broader roll-out during the meeting.
