Votes at a glance: key actions from the Oct. 28 Midwest City Council meeting

The Midwest City Council approved the following actions during its Oct. 28 meeting. Vote tallies are voice votes unless noted.

- Appointment: Terica Castile Edwards appointed to the Parks and Recreation Board (Item 10). Approved by voice vote.

- Easement acceptance: Accepted a donated permanent easement from Jamil and Tasika Adams for property at 8508 NE 23rd Street to accommodate a waterline extension. Approved by voice vote; staff said donation implies no city cost.

- Minor plat: Approved the minor plat for Midwest City U-Haul to consolidate 7515 and 7525 SE 29th Street into a single lot; planning commission had recommended approval.

- Vice mayor: Pat Byrne elected/reappointed vice mayor for a two-year term. Approved by voice vote.

- Elections resolution: Approved resolution and proclamation to call a primary on Feb. 10, 2026 (if necessary) and a general election on April 7, 2026. Council also decided to leave Ward 1 seat vacant until the election.

- Ordinance (food trucks): Adopted ordinance amendment to remove municipal food-truck licensing and align city rules with the state Food Truck Freedom Act; event organizers must collect state permits for vendors.

- Contract award: Approved cooperative purchase with Banner Fire via Sourcewell for Ladder 6 refurbishment, not to exceed $878,944.85 (one abstention recorded).

- Property purchase: Approved purchase of approximately 2.75 acres at 722 SE 15th Street for $990,000 plus closing costs for Public Works expansion.

- Federal-aid resolution: Approved a resolution to participate in the transportation improvement program for restriping projects (Striping Project No. 9).
