Chamber highlights Tinker and the Primes conference as driver of local aerospace activity

Shana, executive director of the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce, reported to the council on the Chamber's quarterly activities and on Tinker and the Primes, the Chamber's aerospace conference hosted at the Reed Center.
Shana said the Chamber retained over 96% of members by count and 98% of membership revenue while "cleaning up" inactive accounts, and reported incremental membership growth toward a 50-member goal. She described the Chamber's Leadership Midwest City program (12 weeks; leadership class 37 to begin in January), its fundraising through the leadership class (the class raised over $20,000 for nonprofits), and monthly community events such as First Friday. On the aerospace conference, the Chamber reported roughly 83 exhibitors on the event floor and about 140 aerospace companies represented overall, with several international participants; staff said the event has helped attract aerospace business interest and relocation leads to the city.
Shana and the Chamber presented a video recap of the conference produced by Zach Challenger of ZXC Media. Council members thanked the Chamber for its work and, in questions, noted the challenge of maintaining active military participation given recent Department of Defense guidance about personal appearances. The chamber representative said efforts continue to engage the base and to position Midwest City as a leader in aerospace economic development.
The council recessed the Special Economic Development Authority following the presentation.
