The Story County Board of Supervisors took several formal actions during its Nov. 4 meeting. Motions were made, seconded and adopted by voice vote on routine matters and on several item-specific actions.
Routine approvals: The board approved the day’s agenda, minutes, personnel actions and claims, and adopted the consent agenda after motions and seconds were recorded for each item.
Annexation: County staff presented Resolution 26-31, a voluntary annexation request by SMDB Huxley Holdings LLC. Anne Harder described the parcel and planning designations: “This resolution 26 31 is being brought to the board in consideration of annexation to the city of Huxley. It's about 41.12 acres,” Harder said. Staff noted the county’s c2c plan lists the area as agricultural conservation and natural-resource areas and that a portion lies in a special flood hazard area governed by the National Flood Insurance Program. The board voted to approve Resolution 26-31.
IT licensing and maintenance: County IT staff described an unbudgeted invoice for email security and URL-filtering maintenance and recommended deferring a larger vendor transition to the next fiscal year to realize savings; the board approved payment and absorbed the unbudgeted amount in the current-year budget.
Joint defense agreement: After a closed session under Iowa Code Section 21.5(1)(c) to consult with counsel about litigation strategy, the board returned to open session and approved a motion to enter a joint defense agreement with Blackhawk and Johnson counties in Salterburg et al. v. Reynolds et al.
