Rowan County approves three driveway names for 9-1-1 addressing

Rowan County commissioners voted Nov. 3 to approve three driveway and road names required for 9-1-1 addressing in areas where new homes have been added.
County staff presented the petitions, saying the first two met the usual threshold because multiple structures are now served by the same driveway. The names approved were Wonderwall Lane (off Hen Road) and Muddy Deep Trail; staff said Muddy Deep Trail had been approved by 9-1-1 and signed off by the homeowners. A third petition, for two new homes off Mooresville Road where available address numbers were limited, was granted the name Progress in Place to avoid requiring established neighbors to change addresses.
The board opened a public hearing on the three names and, seeing no speakers, closed the hearing and moved to approve the petitions. The motion to approve the three names carried without a recorded roll-call; the meeting transcript records the motion, a second and the voice vote ‘aye.’
County staff said the naming process follows the county committee’s recommendation and is intended to ensure unique addressing for emergency responders. No residents spoke during the public hearing and no written objections were noted on the record.
The approvals will be sent to the county’s addressing/9-1-1 system for final implementation.
