Augusta awards $42,299 contract to repair downtown curbs, sidewalks and add ADA stall

The Augusta City Council approved a $42,299 low bid from Rock Concrete on Nov. 3 to repair damaged curb and gutter, sidewalk panels, water meter cans and to add an ADA‑compliant parking stall near Dalton Palmer Park.
Josh (staff) and Public Works Superintendent Anthony presented the package and said staff combined multiple downtown repair locations into one bid package after leftover PPP funds became available. Staff sent the bid package to nine vendors and received one responsive bid from Rock Concrete. "It actually came in about $15,000 under my estimate," Anthony said, and staff recommended moving forward to complete the most damaged areas before winter.
Anthony described the work as primarily curb and gutter replacements, some 4‑inch sidewalk panel replacements, repairs to water meter can panels and the addition of an 8‑inch concrete ADA stall in the brick area at Dalton Palmer Park so the stall meets ADA surface requirements. He told council the project will prioritize the worst damage and that lower cost may allow adding a few extra repairs.
Council then moved to approve the low bid; the motion carried. Staff said they expect to proceed quickly to take advantage of favorable weather and contractor availability.
