Doctor Jorde of the Weston County Historical Society announced two public programs during a community gathering at the Upton Senior Center. The society’s annual meeting is set for Nov. 23 and will include award recognitions followed by a program by John Woodward of Casper on the history of the Wyoming National Guard.
Dr. Jorde said the society welcomes nonmembers to attend the Nov. 23 meeting; members will receive mailed notices about the event. He also said a Wyoming Day program is scheduled for Dec. 10. Bruce Thompson of Cheyenne, who has ties to Weston County, will present the story of Thyra Thompson, a longtime Wyoming secretary of state. Dr. Jorde asked attendees to join for lunch at noon at the Upton Senior Center; the program will begin at 1 p.m. in the same room.
An audience member, Lucille, asked that the National Guard program be recorded because a prior recording was lost. Dr. Jorde acknowledged the request and repeated the Nov. 23 time and location details. Membership and attendance were both encouraged.
