Commission approves minutes, tables several resident requests and OKs two MBTA stop changes

At its November meeting the Chelsea Traffic and Parking Commission approved prior meeting minutes, accepted a handicap space application, tabled multiple communications for further study, and approved two MBTA stop adjustments while tabling a busway turnaround proposal. The Chelsea Traffic and Parking Commission handled routine business, several resident communications and a set of MBTA requests during its November 2025 public meeting.
At the start of the meeting commissioners voted to approve the minutes from the Oct. 7, 2025 meeting by voice vote. Several communications from residents were discussed and tabled for further analysis: a request from Linda Dube for speed humps on Pine Street was tabled to the next meeting to coordinate with the fire department; a request from Edwin Barrientos to make Hawthorne Street one‑way was tabled to the next month; an EV charging installation presentation by Commonwealth Electrical Technologies was tabled to December because the consultant could not attend; and the stop‑sign request from Nia de DeYoung for Willow & Cottage was tabled to January to allow staff and an on‑call consultant to evaluate warrants.
The commission approved a handicap‑parking application from Daisy Lazo at 122 Shirtless Street. An application from Anthony Villanueva for 69 Addison Street was tabled so staff can contact the applicant to clarify off‑street parking availability. The Downtown Broadway utility improvement project update from DPW noted major water and sewer upgrades are wrapping up, with paving and pavement marking to follow and a phase 2 of sidewalk, roadway and signal improvements expected to begin in 2027.
On MBTA items the commission approved two stop changes (a curb extension/landing pad at Pearl & Essex and an adjustment to the Broadway & Fourth bus berth) and tabled a proposed use of the Chelsea Busway / Cottage Street one‑way change pending MBTA coordination with Massport and the private property owner. All tabled items will return to a future agenda after staff analysis or when proponents return with additional information.
There were no further agenda items and the meeting was adjourned.
