Louisa County approves claims, accepts concrete bid and appoints representative

Louisa County supervisors on Oct. 7 completed routine business and approved several items including claims and a maintenance contract, and they appointed a representative to an intercounty disability board.

The board voted to approve the agenda and the minutes from Sept. 23, and approved claims presented for Oct. 7 totaling $445,297.52. Supervisors voted to accept the low bid of $4,104 from a company identified as "Concrete" for sidewalk and pad repair behind the county complex kitchen area rather than a higher bid of $5,645 from Evolve; the work described was 4-inch concrete with a 5-inch pad for a 3-by-2 area at one spot.

The board also appointed Kevin as the Louisa County representative to the Eastern Iowa Disability Alliance for the remainder of the year; the motion was made and seconded and the appointment was approved. The board moved the scheduled closed-session agenda item (an offer to purchase an interest in county real estate) to the end of the meeting and later deferred any decision on that item pending related litigation.
