He said the images will be useful for construction signage and for outreach on the city website. Councilmember Truong noted the proposal includes two iterative reviews before final delivery: “If we have any ideas…we’ll see it on iteration 2,” he said, describing the vendor’s review process.
Council discussion focused on whether the renderings should be used for public outreach and the expected value for the project’s cost; several council members said they supported the expense because it helps communicate project details to residents. The motion carried on a recorded roll call with the following votes: Calderon — Aye; Truong — Yes; Lewis — Aye; Kang — Yes; Finley — Yes; Mayor Pro Tem Martin Del Campo — Yes; Mayor Garcia — Yes.
Staff said the renderings are a snapshot of planned rest areas and landscaped portions of the trail and will not substitute for the approved construction drawings already prepared for bidding. Any substantive design changes that would alter the construction plans would require separate review and could incur additional costs.
