Sterling Heights council adopts resolution honoring sustainability commissioner Nathania Fonseca

Nathania Fonseca addressed the council: "My name is Nathania, and I'm a senior at the International Academy Macomb. ... I'm so honored," she said, thanking commission members and city staff who supported her work. Councilmembers praised her initiative and voted to adopt the resolution by voice vote; the motion carried.
Weinberg told council Fonseca first engaged the sustainability commission as a public attendee, later serving as an ex officio member to bring a youth perspective to local sustainability planning. The resolution recognizes Fonseca's regional work to plant native trees and pollinator gardens and her outreach to schools and municipalities.
