Commission postpones La Chingada manager change, asks for assistant manager resume and certification evidence

The Lynn City Licensing Commission postponed a decision on the proposed change of manager for La Chingada after hearing testimony from the applicant, Santiago Ramirez.

Commissioners explained that only two members were present and noted that a manager-change approval tonight would require both to vote yes. After questioning Ramirez about his work history, hours on site, proposed assistant manager and training, a commissioner moved to postpone the vote to the November meeting. The motion requested that the applicant submit the assistant manager's resume and provide evidence of enrollment in or completion of a server/management certification (referred to in the record as "TIPS" or "CHIP"). The motion was seconded and carried.

Applicant Santiago Ramirez told the commission he has worked in security and management at Monte Cristo Bar and Grill and offered a letter from that establishment's owner. He said the venue serves food until 11 p.m. and operates as a bar until 1 a.m.; he said he plans to be on site most busy nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and that assistant manager Ricardo Feliz would be present when Ramirez was not. Ramirez said he would make himself available by phone and live near the venue.

Commissioners expressed concern about prior incidents at the establishment, asked that the assistant manager's credentials be submitted for review, and recommended the applicant enroll in a server/manager training program to strengthen the application. The commission specifically asked for documentary proof of the assistant manager's resume and evidence of enrollment or certification prior to the November hearing.
