The chair of the Lynn City Board of Health announced at the Oct. 21 meeting that she will step down effective Jan. 1 and asked fellow members to identify a successor for a December vote so the new chair can take office with the new year.
The chair said she has served many years and asked the two remaining commissioners to discuss who would be willing to serve; she requested the board vote at the December meeting so the change would be effective Jan. 1. Members discussed quorum concerns and noted that, if necessary, the board can operate with two members while appointments proceed.
No formal motion was required at the Oct. 21 meeting, but the board agreed to schedule the chair vote at the December meeting (target date Dec. 9) and agreed to discuss membership and logistics at the Nov. 18 meeting.
